The Benefits of Vinyl Chip "Flake" Flooring

Updated: Mar 16, 2022

Considering flake flooring for your cracking concrete garage floor? Maybe you have cracking concrete on your front porch? Do you want a material that carries some texture to go around your pool? Maybe you need something easier to clean... Flake flooring can help you with all of these problems.

Vinyl Chip flooring, commonly known as flake flooring, turns your ugly cracking concrete into a smooth (light texture), seamless floor. When installed correctly, you will no longer worry about how dirty your concrete looks or how there are cracks running through it.

When it comes to flake flooring in your home, it is commonly installed in garages and basements. However, it is very useful in other areas as well. If you search flake flooring on google, you will see that it can be installed around a pool due to its slight texture. You may also see it on front porches for the clean and seamless look it provides. It's an easy clean that can withstand the extremes of weather.

When it comes to commercial installations of flake flooring, there are many places it is used. Due to the durability of the flooring and, once again, the ability to easily clean it, you will see it in warehouses, restaurants, schools (hallways, classrooms, cafeterias), showrooms (car dealerships), fire halls etc.

Why is flake flooring right for you? Well, that all depends on what you're looking for. Flake flooring has many benefits, but most of all, it's known for its durability. We've already told you how easy it is to clean, most fire halls will simply take a hose to it.

If you're looking for benefits as opposed to epoxy flooring, which we also install, you will find that this kind of flooring is more slip resistant (providing extra grip) and temperature resistant.

Lastly, flake flooring is a 1 day install in most instances. It's more affordable than other flooring options, it's seamless, and it has a beautiful glossy finish.

The process to install flake flooring is much more complicated than the simple way we are going to explain it for you. We are professionally trained installers that know exactly what it takes to have strong adhesion, and perfect results. Yes the common person can install this floor, however, unless they know exactly what the process entails... it could end up needing completely re-done within the year. A correctly installed flake flooring system should be durable and carry atleast 4 coats of polyaspartic coatings if you want it to last. Within those 4 layers, the chips will be mixed into the second layer. Before any part of the application process is done, all cracks in the concrete below should be chased, then filled. There is far more work that goes into installing flake flooring than we have listed in this paragraph. We would be more than happy to discuss our process with you when we come give you a quote. The process involves much more labor and tools than the basic products sold on the shelf at your local Walmart or Lowes.
